Goldie Is Singing in Canada

Goldie has officially made it to Canada.

She arrived alongside Mara and Princess after a long journey from Azerbaijan. All three dogs are now living inside real homes while they remain under GWARP's care and wait for adoption.

They are no longer sleeping outside in a crowded shelter yard. They were not transferred to another shelter or handed off to another rescue. For the first time, each of them has a soft bed, a safe place to rest, and people focused on helping them adjust to life inside a home.

Their arrival marked the end of an extraordinary month for GWARP. Despite significant financial pressure from the ongoing costs of food, rent, medical care, and shelter operations, six dogs were able to leave Azerbaijan in June: Hugo, Mika, Rosy, Goldie, Mara, and Princess.

Princess's story has not been shared in full before.

Princess, a Dalmatian, was abandoned outdoors by her owner and later attacked by other dogs. After the attack, she became deeply fearful and withdrawn. For nearly two years, she spent most of her time hiding inside a doghouse, afraid to come out and fearful that she would be attacked again.

In June, after two years of waiting, Princess finally boarded a flight to Canada.

Goldie and Princess are now staying with Alana, a trusted member of the GWARP team in Canada, and both are beginning to settle into their new surroundings.

Goldie is also revealing a side of herself that no one had the opportunity to see while she was living in Azerbaijan.

She sings.

For years, Goldie was known primarily through her survival story. She endured pain, surgeries, and a long wait for safety. In a shelter environment, there was little opportunity to discover who she was beyond that history.

Now, in a quiet home surrounded by comfort, attention, and music, her personality is emerging.

Goldie listens to music. She sings along. She is joyful, funny, expressive, and full of life.

Her arrival in Canada is not simply the end of a difficult journey. It is the beginning of a life in which she can finally be known for more than what happened to her.

Goldie is safe, she is settling in, and she has found her voice.
